Martha Branson

Martha Branson is a climate change journalist and activist who documents her experiences to hopefully bring the reality of climate change home to everyone’s back yards. Last year she spent some time in southern Louisiana where, due to sea-level rise and the destruction caused by oil and gas companies, a football field worth of land is lost every hour. Martha spends her free time drawing caricatures, hiking mountain trails and exploring canyon roads on her motorcycle.

The Road to Bohemia

There should have been French-Creole farmhouses overlooking the Mississippi River, wide gallery porches under deep overhangs, rockers waiting for hot, humid summer evenings spent in society with neighbors. The yards should have been surrounded by weathered brick and iron fences and concrete statuary.
