Maria Thompson Corley

Maria Thompson Corley is a Juilliard-trained pianist, composer/arranger and voice actor who was born in Jamaica W.I., and raised in Alberta, Canada. A contributor to Broad Street Review since 2008, she wrote for Huffington Post. Her poems and short stories have appeared in Kaleidoscope, Fledgling Rag, Chaleur and Midnight and Indigo. Her novel, Choices, was published by Kensington.

The Prince’s Gargoyles

They were circling again, their leathery wings flapping slowly, noiselessly. Through a small square window lodged high in a stone wall of my cottage, I could see a large gargoyle passing just in front of me, so close that I could have touched its gray, scaly hide or wrapped my fingers around its slender neck if not for the barrier between us.
