Diane S. Jarrett

Diane S. Jarrett is a writer in residence with the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County and has written four creative nonfiction books for elementary school students. She has also written for several magazines. Her latest book, Side By Side, was chosen as a finalist in the Best Book Awards in 2017.

Screened doors slamming and the calls of “Can you play now?” echoed between the houses on Rose Lane during Raleigh summers in the late 1950s and early ‘60s. Sometimes it was hard to tell which child lived in which house.
