Josh Greenfield

Josh Greenfield is a graduate of Cornell University. His work has been featured in Appalachia, Word Catalyst Magazine, Chaleur Magazine, The B’k Magazine, Prometheus Dreaming, The Red Noise Collective and the Active Muse. His story, “The Doors of the Ambulance Closed,” was nominated for a Best of the Net award. His novel, Continue Breathing: A Novel, was published in December 2020 by Adelaide Books.

Brilliant Move

Sometimes the big decisions aren’t made: they just happen. My days at Alaska Ocean Products, the salmon cold storage plant that employed me, were numbered. Fish and Game had a date marked on their calendar to indicate the end of the season, and even before that date arrived, I would be up and on my way. Exactly in which direction, I had not completely decided.
