Emily Corak

Emily Corak has spent the last three decades in the Pacific Northwest and now resides outside of Portland, Oregon. Emily has been an educator for over a decade, and is now pursuing her MFA in creative writing to see if she has more to offer the world than breast milk and unsolicited grammar advice. When the world allows, she spends any spare cash on plane tickets and she lives for books, tea, and all things Top Chef.

Feast

The first time I decided to uproot my life entirely came after a lazy morning lying in bed and watching reruns of How I Met Your Mother. I’d recently moved to Portland right after college because of a boy, and I had settled in nicely. I had an apartment, a job, and this boy and I were on the verge of cohabiting.
